Don't expect to get around Pyongyang using the metro map. True, there is a somewhat basic Latin-alphabet version, but the layout of the city is no way reflected in the names of the stations, such as Red Star, Glory, Triumph, Reunification and Construction.

These names are a reminder that the North Korean metro is not designed to simply transport people; it aims to educate them. That is at least the claim made by the official booklet. Guidance in more ways than one...
